Challenge: In 2018, only 49.3% of Americans with disabilities voted. It is an American’s right to be able to vote in each election–but this particular population have experienced difficulties and challenges inhibiting their ability to vote to their full rights.
Approach: On behalf of Smartmatic, we conducted an online survey among 1,004 voters with disabilities to to gain insight into their experience at the polls and explore ways election officials and technology could better meet their needs.
Result: Smartmatic learned that it’s not the people that stand in the way of voters with disabilities, but the technology. They rolled out a strategic media campaign on National Voter Registration Day to highlight this issue and bring attention to the solution.
