We conducted an online survey among a national sample of Americans with skin issues to understand their experience waiting for dermatology treatment, their concerns resulting from long wait times, and their willingness to see a PA instead of a dermatologist.
Using a survey to build an argument
Challenge: The Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, as part of the Greater Access for Patients Partnership (GAPP), wanted to call attention to a healthcare crisis: long patient wait times for dermatology treatment.
Approach: We conducted an online survey among a national sample of Americans with skin issues to understand their experience waiting for dermatology treatment, concerns resulting from long wait times, and willingness to see a PA instead of a dermatologist.
Result: Results from our survey were included in the GAPP report “Patients are Waiting: America’s Dermatology Appointment Wait Time Crisis,” which was released in order to draw attention to this problem– and make a case for PAs as a a solution.
